- JODER is a member of Human Rights Information Network (HURINET) coordinated by the British Council and a member of the United Action for Democracy (UAD). JODER is constituted by active media professionals, in private and public print and electronic media.
JODER conducts training, embarks on legislative actions towards basic education for Nigerians.
JODER played a supervisory role in the building and equipment of libraries for Community Defence Law Foundation, (CDLF) which constructed libraries in local communities in Nigeria in Ekiti and Ogun States of Western Nigeria. - JODER was involved in the campaign for the Freedom of Information law and was a key delegate to the public hearing on the Freedom of Information Act (FOA) organized by the National Assembly.
- JODER is involved in campaign for equitable access to education and free education for vulnerable communities.
- In collaboration with the Canada based Journalists for Human Rights, (JHR), JODER conducted training for journalists on human rights and education reporting.
- In 2007, JODER in collaboration with Child Help in Leadership, Democracy Rights and Education in Nigeria, (C.H.L.D.R.E.N) conducted a two day training for South West Students Leaders under the Quality Education Advocacy Project for students in Nigeria.
- JODER participated in the United Nations Hearing on communication held in Paris in 1999, the Canadian Youth Forum in Bradford, Canada and the yearly African Economic Editors Forum, AEEF coordinated by the Rhodes University in Grahamstown, South Africa.
- JODER has been funded by the British NUJ. Currently, JODER has been funded by the European Union (EU), and Article 19 via the Media for Democracy (MFD), in Nigeria, a Project aimed at defending Press Freedom and to promote independent Journalism and Media Development in Nigeria.
- JODER implemented the EU project funded to the tune of 70,000 (USD) with the Independent Journalism Centre (IJC).The project lasted for 18 months and involved the publication of a bi-monthly magazine.)
- In the year 2005, JODER in collaboration with the Canada-based Journalists for Human Rights, JHR conducted a 3-month human rights training for 25 journalists focusing on media education on human rights and poverty elevation. The mostly young journalists went through the ABC of human rights and were put through the various international instruments of human rights and how the media could advocate for the enforcement of international conventions for the promotion of sustainable development in Nigeria.
- JODER, with the support of the US-based Freedom House conducted a media training, monitoring of the reportage of labour aimed at improving the coverage of labour by the print and electronic media in Nigeria.
- JODER in June 2007, under the Joint Basket Donor Fund of the United Nations Development Programme, UNDP, the European Union, EU, the Canada International Development Agency, CIDA, the Department for International Development, DFID and the United Nations Fund for Women, UNIFEM completed the 6-month project for the Media Monitoring of the Media Coverage of the Nigerian elections in the context of equitable media access for political parties, aspirants and vulnerable groups especially women in Nigeria.
- JODER in 2001 collaboration with the Open Society for West Africa, (OSIWA) implemented the project on Effective Media Investigative Report of the Nigeria’s Oputa Panel-the equivalent of the Truth Commission. The project lasted for 12 months and involved extensive investigation on human right violations and cases of community rights violations over the years covering the era of military rule in Nigeria (1967 to 1999). The project was funded to the tune of 80,000 USD.
